Discover our tips on how to prepare for a no-stress departure:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"single-advice-content\">\n<div class=\"single-advice-inside-content\">\n<h2>What are the \u201chealth requirements\u201d to be fulfilled for your pet before going on vacation?<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Depending on your destination, the requirements may differ<\/strong>. Think about checking them before departure.<\/p>\n<p>If you are traveling to a European Union country, your pet will need to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>be a minimum of\u00a0<strong>three years old<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>get a\u00a0<strong>EU pet passport<\/strong>\u00a0from your vet<\/li>\n<li><strong>be up to date on their vaccinations<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>be identifiable by a\u00a0<strong>microchip<\/strong>\u00a0(or for pets born before 07\/03\/2011, by a tattoo).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Note: The United Kingdom, Finland, Malta and Ireland have additional requirements.\u00a0<\/strong>Certain breeds of dogs are forbidden in the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"single-advice-inside-content\">\n<h2>What is the most suitable mode of transportation for your pet?<\/h2>\n<p>Depending on your destination, whether you have a cat or a dog, and depending on its personality, some means of transportation may be preferable to others.<\/p>\n<h3>Traveling by car with your four-legged friend<\/h3>\n<p>If the size of your pet allows for it, you can use a<strong>\u00a0travel crate<\/strong>. Place him\/her at the\u00a0<strong>back of your vehicle<\/strong>\u00a0where he\/she will be more comfortable. Ideally,\u00a0<strong>avoid having your pet eat before leaving<\/strong>, and remember to take regular breaks (every two hours) so he\/she can run around and have a drink. If your\u00a0<strong>cat or dog is prone to motion sickness, ask your veterinarian for advice<\/strong>\u00a0on proper treatment.<\/p>\n<h3>Traveling by train with your cat or dog<\/h3>\n<p>Just as for yourself, you will need to have\u00a0<strong>a ticket for your pet before boarding the train. There is an exception for service dogs who can travel for free<\/strong>. Depending on your pet\u2019s size,\u00a0<strong>he\/she must be kept on a leash or be placed in an approved bag or carrier<\/strong>. This mean of transportation is suitable for calm animals who will not bother other passengers which can ask the inspector to relocate you at any time!<\/p>\n<h3>Traveling by air with your pet<\/h3>\n<p>This mean of transportation is\u00a0<strong>strictly regulated<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>and can be a significant source of stress for your pet<\/strong>. Each airline has their own policies, so carefully\u00a0<strong>check the requirements of the airline you are flying with<\/strong>. When making your reservation, be sure to indicate immediately that you are traveling with your pet, as well as his\/her breed. Depending on pet\u2019s size, he\/she will either travel\u00a0<strong>with you in the cabin or be put in the cargo hold<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"single-advice-inside-content\">\n<h2>How can you manage the stress of traveling, as well as minor injuries on vacation?<\/h2>\n<p>If preparing for vacation makes you anxious, your pet will feel it.\u00a0<strong>First of all, relax!<\/strong>\u00a0Everything will be fine. To best prepare your companion for travel,\u00a0<strong>show him\/her the bag or crate he\/she will be traveling in<\/strong>. Encourage him\/her to discover this new place by putting his\/her favorite toy or cushion inside.
